Anders Åkesson

Until October 2018, Anders was a regional councillor in Region Skåne, with responsibility for healthcare, primary care, psychiatry, and medicines. He held the position for twelve years, the last four of which he was Vice Chairman of the Regional Board.

Anders has been a member of the Healthcare Delegation within SKR for eight years and the Swedish Medical Council for six years. On several occasions, Dagens Medicin has listed him amongst the country's most influential politicians within healthcare. He has been a member of the Green Party since 1991 and served on the party's board for seven years until 2018. Anders is Chairman of the Swedish Heart and Lung Association. He is a qualified nurse.
