Peter Vis provides counsel on climate and energy policy and the European Green Deal in Rud Pedersen Public Affairs Brussels Office.

Peter led the development of European Union climate policy for over two decades in a variety of roles in the European Commission. He is an acknowledged expert in the shift to a low carbon economy, a writer on EU climate policy and an academic. His career in the Commission included roles within DG Environment, where he was part of the team that developed the EU ETS. He was the Head of Cabinet for Commissioner Hedegaard, the EU’s first Climate Action Commissioner and prior to that served in the Cabinet of Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs. He finished his career in public service working on the Commission’s approach to low emission mobility and at the European Political Strategy Centre, the Commission President’s think-tank.
